Terms of use
Updated 19 October 2026
About these terms
Planning Near Me is run by DOT.MOV Limited (company 14819589), 52 Kingston Avenue, Margate, Kent, CT9 5NH. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
What the site is, and is not
The site shows planning applications and decisions taken from the planning records councils publish and other public sources, and gives general guidance on when planning permission is needed. It is information, not advice.
- It is not a planning decision. Only your council can decide whether you need permission or whether it will be granted. Before you build, check with your council or apply for a lawful development certificate.
- The permitted development answer is a guide. It is based on the national rules and on what we know about the location. It cannot take account of conditions on your property's past permissions, restrictions in your deeds or anything we do not hold.
- The records may be incomplete or out of date. Councils publish their records differently, some go back further than others, and some areas are not covered yet. We say where we know our coverage is thin, but we cannot guarantee that any record is complete or correct.
- Solar estimates are estimates. They use typical figures for roof, panels and prices, not a survey of your home.
Using the site
You may use the site for your own purposes. You must not:
- copy or scrape it in bulk, or use it to build a competing database;
- use credits or an account to resell reports in bulk, or to make automated requests;
- try to get round any limit or security measure, or overload it;
- use it for anything unlawful, including harassing anyone named or located in a record.
We may slow down or suspend any account whose use is out of the ordinary, to protect the site for everyone else.
Some of the data is licensed to us under the Open Government Licence and other licences listed on data sources. Those licences still apply to that data.
Paid reports
A single report costs £9.99, paid once through Stripe, with no account needed. It lists every planning application we hold within 400 metres of the postcode you chose: what each asked for, the decision, the council reference with a link to the council's record, how long it took and any appeal. It opens as soon as you have paid, at a link we also email to you, and it stays up to date as the council decides new applications.
- Refunds. Ask within 14 days for a full refund, no reason needed, by emailing hello@dotmov.co.uk with the postcode. A refunded report stops opening.
- The same caveats apply. A report is drawn from the same public records as the free search, so it can only be as complete as those records and our coverage of them.
- Anyone with the link can open the report. Share it deliberately. You may send it to the people you are advising, such as a client. Do not publish reports in bulk or sell them on.
Accounts
An account is optional. You sign in with a code we email you, so there is no password to keep. One account belongs to one email address. Keep your email secure: anyone who can read it can sign in.
- Give us accurate details. You can change them, or delete the account, under Details.
- We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, or that is used to get round a limit. We will say why, and refund any unspent credits as set out below.
- If you tick that you are buying for your business, you confirm that you are buying in the course of your business.
Credits
A credit pack gives you a set number of credits to spend on reports. Each credit opens one report. The pack sizes and prices are shown before you pay. A pack needs a signed-in account, and the credits go to that account.
- Credits do not expire. They cannot be transferred, exchanged for cash or used for anything but reports.
- Prices. We are not registered for VAT, so we charge none. Each pack has a receipt in your account that says so.
- A credit opens the report at once. When you use one, you ask us to start straight away, and you accept that you then lose the right to cancel that report.
- Refunds on a pack. Ask within 14 days of buying it, no reason needed, by emailing hello@dotmov.co.uk. We refund the credits you have not used, at what you paid for them, and take those credits off your account. Credits already used are not refunded. Business buyers get the same refund.
- If a report fails. If a report you opened with a credit will not load because of a fault on our side, tell us and we will put the credit back.
- If we stop. If we stop selling reports, we will refund the credits you have not used.
Our responsibility to you
The site is provided as it is. We are not liable for any loss arising from relying on it, including decisions to build, buy, sell or apply. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
Changes and law
We may change the site or these terms. The date at the top shows the last change. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
